Ukraine Delegation Bound for U.S. to Advance Peace Talks

(MENAFN) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced Thursday that a Ukrainian envoy team is traveling to the United States to advance peace discussions.

Weekend negotiations with the U.S. diplomatic team are scheduled for Friday and Saturday, with European officials also anticipated to join, Zelensky informed a news agency.

The Ukrainian leader emphasized that major disagreements between Kyiv and Washington center on territorial disputes and the deployment of immobilized Russian financial reserves.

Zelensky explained that if a peace settlement emerges from the Russia-Ukraine war, Kyiv intends to channel the frozen funds toward rebuilding infrastructure. Conversely, should combat operations continue, the resources could be allocated to strengthening the Ukrainian armed forces, expanding defense manufacturing capabilities, and acquiring U.S.-produced air defense missile systems, he noted.
