NATO Chief Makes Unannounced Visit to Kyiv
Zelenskyy shared footage on social media showing the two leaders paying respects at the People's Memorial of National Remembrance in Kyiv. The solemn ceremony underscored ongoing Western support as the conflict drags on.
"Maydan Square. People's memorial of national memory. Memorial to the memory of our heroes, soldiers, our people who defended Ukraine from the enemy, fought and gave the most valuable thing in this war. Together with Mark Rutte, the memory of the fallen Ukrainian defenders and defenders was honored here today," he said.
Rutte subsequently headed to the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, to deliver remarks to lawmakers, according to Ukrainian media reports.
The unannounced arrival follows standard security protocols for high-level visits to the war-torn nation, where air raid alerts remain a daily reality. The NATO leader's presence signals continued alliance solidarity with Kyiv as the war enters another critical phase.
