Russia Announces Upcoming Round of Ukraine Talks

(MENAFN) The Kremlin announced on Friday that a new round of talks regarding the conflict in Ukraine will take place soon, though spokesperson Dmitry Peskov provided no details on the format, participants, or agenda.

Speaking to reporters in Moscow, Peskov confirmed that preparations are underway but declined to elaborate on timing or specifics. “This will happen soon,” he said, according to reports.

The announcement comes amid ongoing diplomatic efforts surrounding the Ukraine conflict, with Moscow emphasizing that negotiations remain possible despite continued fighting. Russian officials have reiterated that any talks must reflect what they describe as the “new realities on the ground.”

The remarks follow two days of US-mediated negotiations in Abu Dhabi on February 4-5 involving Russia and Ukraine. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said his delegation would brief him on the “most sensitive” aspects of the discussions upon their return, noting that these matters could not be handled remotely.

The Abu Dhabi talks resulted in a prisoner exchange and were described by the parties as constructive, focusing on establishing conditions for a durable peace.
